We’re excited to share that our Ashwood Residence Master Suite & Gallery Addition has officially received its building permit in Smyrna, Georgia, marking the start of construction on a project defined by calm, crafted simplicity and a deliberate reimagining of how an addition can reshape daily living.

The Ashwood project does more than add space; it reframes the relationship between the existing home and a new master suite through a sequence of elegant, light-filled experiences. Thoughtfully composed and quietly modern, the design balances warmth and restraint while introducing spatial moments that feel both intimate and expansive.

Ashwood Addition - Smyrna, Georgia

At the heart of the addition is a slender, glass-lined gallery - a luminous connector that bridges old and new. With floor-to-ceiling glazing on both sides, the gallery becomes more than a passageway; it’s a transitional moment, a soft pause filled with daylight and framed views. Subtle cove lighting emphasizes its length, turning this threshold into an architectural gesture that sets the tone for the suite beyond.

Interior Excellence

Inside, the master bedroom centers around natural textures and expressive details. Decorative wood beams rhythmically animate the ceiling, grounding the room with a sense of crafted warmth. A half-height veneer accent wall behind the bed introduces a tailored horizontal line, anchoring the space while allowing light to circulate freely. Large windows open the room to the landscape, while the muted, earthy palette supports a restorative, retreat-like atmosphere.

The master bathroom continues this sensibility - spa-like, but purposeful. The layout establishes zones for retreat and utility: a dedicated toilet room for privacy; a sculptural freestanding tub set against textured walls; and a clean, refined wet area framed by soft cove lighting. Integrated niches provide functional elegance, while continuous materials across floors and walls create a calm visual field. A dry kitchen, tucked into a quiet arched niche, introduces an intimate moment of utility within the suite.

From the exterior, the addition maintains a respectful dialogue with the existing structure. Its massing is understated, its palette muted, and its proportions familiar - yet the modern detailing, warm vertical cladding, and curated openings bring a fresh identity. A planted bed grounds the facade, and a living green wall softens the junction between old and new, introducing a lush vertical imprint that connects the architecture to the landscape.

As construction begins, the Ashwood Addition stands as an exploration of light, material, and the quiet rituals of living - waking, bathing, resting, transitioning. It’s a project grounded in restraint and refinement, designed to feel both deeply personal and seamlessly integrated into the home that surrounds it.
