Valley House

A home suspended over a river

Suspended above the landscape, Valley House is a siting and master-planning study for a home that could one day overlook a river valley in the Rabun County, Georgia. Designed before the lot was purchased, the project stress-tests topography, hydrology, and structural constraints — an elevated, suspended orientation clears the floodplain below, while an engineered retaining wall resolves the grade change to the water's edge. Broad glass surfaces open the home to its surroundings, while a palette of wood and stone connects the structure to its environment. The result is a light-filled, structurally resolved home that brings together panoramic views, architectural clarity, and the technical rigor a water-adjacent site demands.
